WDV Soccer Field Joyfully Opened by the Community at Ribbon-Cutting Ceremony
The Wiseburn and Da Vinci community came together to celebrate the official grand opening of the WDV Soccer Field on Oct. 21. The celebration was a proud moment for Wiseburn USD Superintendent Blake Silvers, Da Vinci CEO/Superintendent Matthew Wunder, Wiseburn and Da Vinci board members, student athletes, and community members who joined us on the field for the ribbon cutting ceremony. Together, we celebrate a dream fulfilled through teamwork, perseverance, and partnership.
We wish to extend a big thank you to the Wiseburn and Da Vinci Boards of Trustees and staff, the Citizens’ Bond Oversight Committee, and all of the Measure EE supporters who helped make this happen.
“Today, we celebrate a dream fulfilled. This is the home we’ve long awaited,” said Dr. Silvers, Wiseburn's Superintendent.
“It is absolutely wonderful to have our own soccer field, so that our students who play at AYSO and participate in our sports [program], can now play at their own local high school soccer field,” said Roger Bañuelos, Vice President of the Wiseburn USD Board of Trustees. “I’m really, really proud of our community for supporting our bond,” he continued.
The new field sets a high standard for athletic excellence, supporting student success both on and off the field. Thanks to Measure EE bond funds, the field received a state-of-the-art upgrade with advanced turf and a high-performance drainage system, ensuring playability all year round.
Following the ribbon-cutting ceremony, the WDV Boys Soccer teams took to the field for a regularly-scheduled practice. Tryouts for WDV Girls Soccer took place on the new field the following day.
"The new field is beautiful, it's something I've been waiting for since I was a freshman,” said DVC senior Hailey Rosenstein, who has been playing goalie for nine years, including the last three on the WDV Girls Soccer varsity team. “It feels amazing. It's beautiful turf. It's going to take some time to get used to, but it's really nice. I really appreciate that the community brought this beautiful field to us high schoolers,” she continued.
The WDV Girls and Boys Soccer teams are thrilled and can’t wait to welcome fellow athletes and the community to this beautiful new field!!
