Korina Barefield has been in education since 2013. Her experience includes two years as a college advisor for first-generation students in Compton, and eight years as a school counselor for Westside Union School District in Palmdale, CA. Miss B, as her students like to call her, earned her BA in Psychology from CSU Bakersfield, a MS in Counseling from Cal State Long Beach, and her Admin credential from USC. Korina has supported students by delivering comprehensive school counseling programs rooted in data, equity, and a high-level of engagement in social emotional learning. She prides herself on advocating for students’ needs by being visible, asset-based, and intentional in her role.
Korina has extensive training in trauma informed practices, equitable practices, suicide prevention, positive behavioral interventions and supports, and the American School Counselor Association National Model. Korina is a former college tennis player, but now stays active through Peloton rides and dancing all night to great music with her fiancé. Her faith and family come first, while catching her favorite shows on Bravo is a close second.
