Jay Besina has been a member of the all-star staff at Da Vinci Science since 2011 and teaches Psychology and PLTW Human Body Systems. He is also the head coach at Da Vinci’s onsite CrossFit affiliate, CrossFit Nerd. Born in Honolulu, Hawai’i and raised in Oxnard, California, Jay attained a bachelor’s degree in Physiological Science and a master’s degree in Education from UCLA. His social justice work around the outreach and retention of historically under-represented communities of color at UCLA led him to the field of education. He taught biology for several years in Watts, Paramount, and Lawndale before joining the Da Vinci family, and he feels blessed to be teaching along such inspiring individuals.
