Da Vinci Connect Hosts UCLA Math Project

This month, Da Vinci Connect TK-8 hosted two days of on-site learning for the UCLA Math Project Learning Lab Sessions! Fourteen educators from district and charter schools across the Southern California area engaged in collaborative workshops that explored research-based strategies and tools aimed at enhancing student engagement and achievement in math. The sessions focused on collaboration, engagement, hands-on learning for educators, sharing of teaching practices, and developing a community of shared learning.

Educators explored the Learning Lab’s innovative model of “Teacher Time Out,” which allows educators to pause during live instruction, reflect on their teaching practices, and share teaching strategies in real time—all while students remain actively engaged in meaningful learning experiences. The dynamic group included educators from Animo South Los Angeles CHS, Beverly Hills Unified School District, Da Vinci Connect, Everlasting Elementary School, Gabriella Charter School 2, and Vaughn Next Century Learning Center. All grade levels TK-12th grade were represented, ensuring a comprehensive approach to addressing math instruction across all grade levels. The UCLA Math Project professional development focused on equitable and effective strategies to support math instruction for all students that align with the new California Mathematics Framework.

The UCLA Mathematics Project (UCLAMP) is part of a statewide program that strives to positively impact TK-12 educators, students, communities, and school districts in the Los Angeles area. We were thrilled to welcome so many wonderful teachers from around the area to Da Vinci Connect TK-8 and be a part of this vibrant learning community!
