Important Information on Indoor Air Filtration Systems and Return to Campus
Jan. 10, 2025 — As the devastating fires continue to impact L.A. County and our region, we want to take a moment to express our heartfelt thoughts to everyone who has suffered immense loss and to express our deep gratitude to the brave first responders. Please know that our hearts are with you during this difficult time. The following blog post includes resources to support those affected by the wildfires as well as preparedness resources.
We look forward to welcoming our students back to our campuses beginning on Monday, Jan. 13. All Da Vinci schools remain open, but should circumstances change, we will notify families and staff immediately.
We have been closely monitoring the air quality and wind patterns to ensure the safety and well-being of our students and staff. Out of an abundance of caution, we are implementing inclement weather procedures to keep students indoors on Monday and to limit their exposure to outdoor conditions. Should students have any reason to go outdoors, masks will be available for optional use. We are dedicated to providing a safe, comfortable, and supportive environment for all students and staff.
Today’s update also focuses on the air filtration systems we have in place on our campuses that provide us all with healthy indoor air.
Da Vinci Schools’ Indoor Air Filtration Systems
At Da Vinci Schools, your child’s safety and health are our top priorities. All our campuses are equipped with advanced systems to maintain clean and healthy indoor air.
All Da Vinci campuses have Bipolar Ionization Systems integrated into the HVAC systems and ductwork, and/or standalone industrial air purification systems that run 24/7. Both systems neutralize contaminants such as small particles, gases, and water vapor that are present in fire activity, as well as bacteria, viruses, and volatile organic compounds (VOCs).
Specifically, these systems include MERV 15 and MERV 13 filters, GPS Bipolar Ionization Systems, UV systems with fans, and plug-in units featuring HEPA-level filtration. Our HVAC systems are regularly maintained and serviced to ensure these measures are consistently effective.
We are continuing to monitor the air quality advisories issued by the South Coast Air Quality Management District (South Coast AQMD).
We are committed to helping our community navigate this challenging time. Thank you for your trust, and we remain vigilant in monitoring this evolving situation.
