Summer Camp Programs are in Full Swing

The summer camp season is in full swing! From youth athletics camp, to high school athletics training and development, to art, ceramics, graphic design, debate, board games, business camp, aviation training, and much more -- it's already been an incredible summer at Da Vinci Schools, and we're just getting started!

Summer Athletics Camps
Our first-ever Wiseburn + Da Vinci Summer Athletics Camps are now in full swing, with 250 students enrolled in the youth camp, 234 high school students enrolled in a high school sport, and 122 high school students enrolled in strength and conditioning. Both the youth and high school camps are being taught by our Varsity WDV coaches, and our high school strength and conditioning sessions are being run by our partners at UCLA Health, powered by EXOS.

“Camp has really filled our summer with smiles,” said Kate Vokoun, a youth camp parent and Da Vinci community member. “Not only is my kiddo coming home with new sports skills, our car rides home are filled with stories of memories made with friends. From the parent perspective, I am beyond impressed with the clear and consistent communication and safety measures put in place. We are so grateful for this new summer staple for (hopefully) years to come.”

At our youth camp, the smiles on kids’ faces says it all. Not only are kids rotating through four different sports each week (soccer, volleyball, baseball/softball, and basketball), they are also meeting new people, making new friends, learning new skills, and spending each day playing outdoors, laughing, and having fun. What a great way to spend summer!

Starting off the new season, our high school athletes are participating in sport-specific camps (basketball, volleyball, baseball/softball, soccer, runners club, and archery) run by our WDV coaches with the additional option to sign up for strength and conditioning sessions. After wrapping up the first two weeks, students have really found the camps to be a great way to get to know the coaches and to keep up with training and conditioning in the off-season. One student participating in strength training as well as baseball/softball shared, “It’s been great getting to practice and train with our teammates."

Summer Enrichment Camps
We’ve had a fantastic two weeks of Summer Enrichment Camps with 193 students enrolled in Art, Graphic Design, Ceramics, Board Games, and Debate camps. It’s great to see kids harnessing their creativity, having fun, and making new friends!

“My daughter has really enjoyed art camp! She loves doing art and had a lot of her classmates in the camp with her, too. I can’t wait for her brother to join her at camp next year,” said an art camp parent.

Sebastian, a rising 7th grader at Da Vinci Connect, has been attending ceramics camp for the second year in a row. He loves ceramics so much that he attended both sessions this summer. “I like sculpting animals and characters from my favorite video games. I like ceramics because it’s so relaxing. We have a lot of freedom to be creative and choose to make what we want,” he shared.

Next up:  Performing Arts and LEGO Robotics. There’s still a few spots remaining in both camps. Visit summerinwiseburn.org to learn more and register.

Summer Career Training Clinics
Da Vinci is also hosting a number of Summer Career Training Clinics for high school students. During the month of June, 66 students participated in Biz Camp in partnership with the LA Urban League, Aviation Training in partnership with Giving Kids Wings Flight Academy, and Live Talk & Red Carpet Hosting in partnership with Diamond in the Raw.

It’s been incredible to see our young entrepreneurs turn their business ideas into reality; our aviation enthusiasts get behind-the-scenes tours of airfields and an air traffic control tower, get flight simulator training, and take their first real flight; and our aspiring hosts and news anchors get behind the mic to learn how to successfully interview guests, news sources, and others.

Da Vinci will be hosting additional career training clinics in July, including another session of Biz Camp, Advanced Manufacturing, Futures Rewired, and Future Shock.
