Da Vinci Schools Announce Staffing Changes

May 2011

We are proud to announce the following changes to our administrative team to promote the continued growth and success of our schools.

Colleen O'Boyle has been promoted to Interim Principal of Da Vinci Design for the 2011-2012 school year, effective July 1, 2011. Ms. O'Boyle currently serves as Academic Dean for both Da Vinci Design and Da Vinci Science, and will replace Steve Wallis who has been serving as Design's Interim Principal since January. Mr. Wallis will continue in his role as Principal of Da Vinci Science. We will conduct a statewide search for a permanent principal for Da Vinci Design in 2012-2013, and will keep you updated on our progress.

Ms. Boyle began her education career 10 years ago and has a long track record of successfully working with students, both in and out of the classroom. She joined Da Vinci Schools in 2009 as a Humanities teacher during our inaugural year and was appointed Academic Dean in 2010. As Academic Dean, Ms. O'Boyle has been instrumental in building a college-going culture, expanding our Early College program in which eligible students are able to concurrently enroll in college classes and earn college credit, and starting our internship program. Prior to joining Da Vinci Schools, Ms. O'Boyle taught at High Tech High, a highly regarded network of project-based charter schools in San Diego. She earned her M.A. in English Literature from Middlebury College in Vermont and her B.A. in American Literature from the University of Maryland, College Park.

At a time when many California schools are cutting back on their programs due to budget shortfalls, we are extremely pleased to expand our college counseling team to three full-time and one part-time counselor to ensure that every Da Vinci student graduates college-ready, career-prepared, and community-minded.

All three principals (Dr. Tempel Assisi at the Innovation Academy; Mr. Wallis at Da Vinci Science; and Ms. O'Boyle at Da Vinci Design) bring outstanding experience, dedication, and a deep commitment to our students, families and programs. On behalf of all of us at Da Vinci Schools, we look forward to working with you in the coming months and years ahead as we continue building a great future for our students.
