Message from our counselor:
Dear Parents:

My name is Natasha Bayus and I am the Counselor Intern at Da Vinci Schools.  I am currently completing my Master's Degree in Counseling at Loyola Marymount University and excited to be working at such an exceptional school!  I play a supporting role at Da Vinci in helping teachers maximize each student's potential, and addressing any possible obstacles in this journey.  Together with each student's advisory teacher, we will help students achieve success at Da Vinci and beyond graduation by addressing academic, social and emotional concerns, as well as setting goals for college and career.  I will also be holding monthly workshops for parents, the first of which is described in this newsletter.  Thanks again for giving me the opportunity to work with your child.
It's never too early to prepare for college!  On Tuesday, October 13th from 5-7pm in the Forum, Counselor Natasha Bayus will be holding an invaluable workshop for all 9th and 10th grade parents on how to prepare your child for college.  Specific steps to take in 9th and 10th grade will be covered, such as taking the PSATs, improving study habits, and building resumes to gain entrance into their dream college.  Ketterman College Funding will be presenting an overview of financial information including maximizing your student's potential to receive scholarships, grants, and gift aid, the secrets of paying for college and still retiring comfortably, and how to position your finances to get financial aid.  Please RSVP to counselor@davincischools.org so we can get an estimate of the number of parents attending.  Bring your questions!  Students are welcome to sit in.
Is your student nervous about getting into college?  The PSAT provides a great opportunity to practice taking the test that will play a large part in admission to  college and obtaining scholarships.  Student who plan to take the PSAT exam on October 16th can sign up in the Counseling Center for a 4-week PSAT Boot Camp to be held on the following Tuesdays - 9/22, 9/29, 10/6, and 10/13 before school from 8:00-8:50am in the Forum.  Students who sign up should plan to attend all 4 classes.  Parents can also email counselor@davincischools.org to enroll their student into this course.
