At Da Vinci Schools, the arts are highly valued and are a vital part of our core academic curriculum. While the University of California requires one year of art instruction, students at Da Vinci Schools are required to complete two years of art instruction. Our arts program focuses on painting, drawing, and sculpture with foundations in Elements of Art and Principals of Design. Students may take any of these courses for honors credit. In addition, we are currently offering a Project Lead the Way college level course that integrates Art, Design and Engineering. We also offer a wide variety of seminar (elective) classes that incorporate the arts, including web design, graphic design, drama, yearbook and fashion design. Students have the opportunity to participate in performing arts both inside and outside of the classroom. Last year, Humanities students wrote an adaption of Antigone, composed original music and sets, learned about essay writing, tone, language, frequency, and sound waves. Our after school program also offers students many opportunities for performing arts. Kabaret offers contemporary dance, step, and vocal theater classes. In addition, students have organized drama, singing and art clubs this school year.
