Announcing New Humanities/Communications Academy at
Da Vinci Design Opening in August 2013

Da Vinci Schools proudly announces the opening of Da Vinci Humanities/Communications Academy located on the Da Vinci Design campus at 12501 S. Isis Avenue, Hawthorne, CA. The new academy, which is being funded in part by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, will serve 64 9th grade students in its first year. The first day of classes will be on August 13, 2013. The new academy will offer:

• A project-based curriculum with an increased focus on computer-based instruction
• Early College/Dual Enrollment classes that count for both high school and college credit
• An optional fifth year of high school in order to complete an Associate’s Degree and reduce the time and cost of earning a Bachelor’s Degree

We invite you to join Principal Nathan Barrymore at an upcoming Information Meeting to learn more about the Humanities/Communications Academy. All meetings will take place at the Forum at Da Vinci Science, 13500 Aviation Blvd., Hawthorne, CA.

For Students with an Application Already on File

If you would like to rank the Humanities/Communications Academy in your preferences, or would like to reorder your preferences in any way, please complete and return the Change of School Preference form on or before April 16, 2013. Applicants will be offered enrollment in wait list order based on space availability.

For New Applicants
If you have not previously submitted an application to Da Vinci Schools and are interested in attending the Humanities/Communications Academy, please download a New Student Application and submit it to us at your earliest convenience. New applicants will be placed at the bottom of the waiting list.

Please return the Change of School Preference to any school office or via email at enrollment@davincischools.org.

Additional Information
* Submitting the Change of School Preference form will NOT change your wait list number and it will NOT negatively impact your chances on being offered acceptance to any of the schools. Seats are filled according to wait list order and availability.

* If you do not submit a Change of School Preference form ranking the new Academy, then you will not be considered for a spot at the Academy. (We will assume you have no interest.)

* By submitting the form you are simply adding yourself to a pool of applicants for the new Academy.

* Changing your preference to the new Humanities/Communications Academy may increase your chances of being offered a spot at the new Academy in the sense that we have an additional 64 spots to offer, but it does not affect the order in which we call students off the waiting list.

* We will continue to contact families in wait list order just as we've always done.
