Superintendent O'Connell's quote about Da Vinci being a model school.

It is a pleasure and a privilege to welcome you to Da Vinci Schools!

Established in 2009, Da Vinci Schools are independently governed and operated charter schools serving the Wiseburn community and children from more than 80 different zip codes. Da Vinci Schools operates four public charter high schools, Da Vinci Communications, Da Vinci Design, Da Vinci Science, and Da Vinci RISE High. Da Vinci’s K-8 Innovation Academy offers a unique "home school-hybrid"l model blending at-home and in-school learning. Da Vinci Schools also operate a college completion support program known as Da Vinci Extension in partnership with UCLA Extension and Southern New Hampshire University's College for America.

Da Vinci Schools are located two miles south of Los Angeles International Airport in the South Bay of Los Angeles at the corners of El Segundo, Hawthorne, Manhattan Beach and Redondo Beach. Da Vinci Communications is funded in part by a prestigious Next Generation Learning Challenges grant funded by the Bill & Melinda Gates and The William and Flora Hewlett Foundations, Northrop Grumman, Chevron, and two private foundations. Da Vinci RISE High was one of 10 schools in the nation to win a $10 million XQ 'Super School' grant to reimagine high school.

Relationships are what make Da Vinci Schools a remarkable place, so whether you are a prospective family, current family, staff member, board member, community partner, neighbor or friend, your interest and enthusiasm are greatly appreciated.

Our dynamic, WASC accredited schools have several distinct strengths:

  • A real world, project-based curriculum that emphasizes depth over breadth, engages students' interests and motivates them to learn.
  • Career pathways aligned to high-skilled, high-demand careers, including engineering, biomedical, STEAM, architecture, graphic design, computer science, journalism, strategic communications, and music & media.
  • A small and personalized learning environment where every student is known, seen and valued. Our students know their teachers and school leaders care about them and want them to succeed.
  • Strategic public-private partnerships with many industry, higher education and nonprofit leaders that help us define the knowledge and skills students need to be successful in college, career, and life.
  • A Work Experience Program in which high school students gain on-the-job, real-world work experience.
  • Early College classes where students take college classes for credit (at no charge to them) while they simultaneously earn their high school diploma.
  • A deep commitment to extensive professional development and continuous growth by all. Leaders, teachers and students all have a commitment to improving, and we feel safe to take risks, own our growth and our mistakes.

These strengths translate into college-ready and career-ready results. We are enormously proud of the Class of 2016, 99% of whom successfully completed their UC and CSU "a-g" course requirements for admission into a UC or Cal State school. We take great pride in our promise that every Da Vinci student will graduate college-ready, career-prepared and community-minded.

Thank you for your interest in Da Vinci Schools!  We invite you to visit us in person and experience all that Da Vinci has to offer first-hand. We are thrilled to be part of a Da Vinci family that is dedicated, innovative and compassionate. We hope you will be, too.
